Elena was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan. From a very young age, she had many opportunities to receive acupuncture treatments and herbal medicine, and it was only natural for her to develop an interest in eastern medicine. Elena came to the US at the age of seventeen, and studied Electrical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and UC Berkeley. After working for three years in technology industry, she realized that she wanted to work more closely with people. She enjoys her practice very much, because it is very rewarding to see her patients feel better, and to have the opportunity to continue learning about the medicine and developing her techniques.
Elena is dedicated to working with each patient to stimulate his or her natural healing process, and to help with the relaxation of body and mind. She sees patients of different ages with a variety of conditions, and takes a holistic approach to healing by examining each individual’s constitution, health history, and current physical and mental conditions. She uses very gentle techniques that combine Japanese and Chinese traditions, and utilize acupuncture, moxa, and herbal medicine to maximize each patients’ own self-healing mechanism. Depending on individual’s preference and condition, Elena’s treatments can also be used in conjunction with or as an effective alternative to treatments provided by other healthcare practitioners.
The beauty of eastern medicine is that it not only targets existing conditions, but also functions as a very effective form of preventative medicine. Optimal results can be achieved when practitioner and patient cooperate with one another in a relationship of trust. Elena will remain sensitive to each individual’s expectations and limitations. One goal of her treatments is to bring her patients into a fuller awareness of their own bodies, and to enable them to take part in their own, individual healing processes.
